General considerations on data

The inventorizations carried out on the LIFE Elia sites were set up at the beginning of the project for monitoring birds and butterflies. As the inventorizations of ponds have only begun in the first year after their digging, the data presented below for amphibians and dragonflies are still too limited to be interpreted.
The data summarized below (on 27-09-2017) are presented in detail in the form of tables and interactive maps on this page.
To express the biological diversity, the Shannon Diversity Index is used in addition to the simple count of the number of species (species richness). The graphical representation chosen is the “whisker box”, it allows to quickly visualize the median value and the variability of the data.

Reptiles

The results for this group are not detailed here as diversity indices because too few species do not allow this approach.
